There are lots of reasons why people choose counselling, and lots of different types of counselling to choose from. What’s a good fit for one person may not be the best fit for someone else, so it’s good to have as many options as possible. That’s why I offer walk and talk therapy in Chorley. Some people who have counselling with me do so because they like the idea of counselling taking place in an open environment, in the outdoors and outside of four walls. They feel it’s a little easier to talk, and those moments of silence are never awkward, because there’s always so much nature around to experience and absorb.
Whether you’ve got an urgent issue that you need help with right away or something that you’ve always wanted to talk about but never seemed to find the right time, walk and talk therapy in Chorley is a great way to discuss your problems. Being outdoors has been proven to be beneficial for our mental health, so combining a walk in nature with a counselling session is a great way to help keep both your mind and body healthy. After all, it can only be a bonus when your counselling helps you keep up with your step count too!
I offer walk and talk counselling in Chorley because I believe that person-centred, talking therapy works, and I believe that being outside in nature is something that works well with it.
So how frequent should your walk and talking counselling sessions be? I recommend a session of therapy every week, but that doesn’t mean you can’t visit your favourite park or woodland on your own and use the time to process your thoughts. Indeed, it’s so often the case that a lot of therapy takes place outside the session, because what we discuss in our sessions can help you look at things in an entirely new way. That means giving yourself some time to think things over before your next walk and talk counselling session is always useful. Doing that while you’re outside in natural surroundings is even better, and it’s another reason to get out and enjoy nature!
