Reset for the summer

Summer is of course a time where most of us try to get away on holiday, though with the ongoing cost of living crisis, not to mention the impact of the climate crisis too, that’s not always as manageable as it perhaps once was. Even if financial or travel restrictions mean we can’t go abroad this year, a change of scenery is always beneficial for our mental health, no matter where we go.

Have you ever stopped to think why you book your holidays, other than the fact that it’s summer and that’s what you do? During the pandemic, it was widely reported that more people had got out and enjoyed the natural world on their doorsteps that they may not up until that point have explored. It gave many of them a new perspective on the country they lived in and when the restrictions had lifted enough to allow relatively free movement in their own country, they explored it and experienced it like they hadn’t done before.

Sometimes, it is not about where you go, but more the simple fact of being somewhere else. Having new scenery to enjoy, new things to explore and new surroundings to be in can give you a fresh perspective on all sorts of things and of course, give you that all-important time to reset as well.

Summer is also a great time to book a walk and talk counselling session in Chorley, with the great outdoors in full bloom, longer days and (hopefully!) the chance of catching some rays while you’re outside. It’s a chance to connect with nature and also yourself, and perhaps talk about that issue that’s been troubling you, the one you never seemed to find the right time to address because life always seems to get in the way.

That’s why I offer walk and talk counselling sessions in Chorley, because I believe in the healing power of nature and think that combining it with a counselling session is a great way to help you with whatever is troubling you, so you can enjoy the rest of the summer.
